Pacific City Coastal Fishing Trip
09:00 AM, 10 September 2019 — 03:00 PM, 10 September 2019
We will travel in a van to hunt for Chanterelle mushrooms. Travel time is about one hour each way. We will spend a couple of hours walking around in the woods looking for these delicious mushrooms. This involves walking off trails through thick forest on uneven terrain. You may get very wet if it is raining, you will almost certainly get covered in hemlock needles. Bring good shoes or hiking boots. Bring a raincoat, and hat. I will supply bags for carrying your mushrooms, knives for cutting mushrooms, snacks and a picnic for after the hunt. I will show everyone how to identify these mushrooms and will personally inspect all mushrooms at the end of the hunt.

This is a private tour run by Pedal Bike Tours and is only for EO Members/Family (Children under 2 are free). A minimum of 2 people need to sign up for the tour to run.
To begin this combination bike and hike excursion (bike and helmet are included in the tour price) we’ll jump into the Pedal Bike Tours van and drive 45 minutes to the Historic Columbia River Highway, completed in 1916. On the way we’ll stop at the most photographed scenic vistas in the Gorge before unloading the bikes for our ride.
This 6-mile ride gives us a sense of what it was like to travel along the first National Scenic Highway in the nation through the Gorge before construction of the interstate highway. We’ll stop at as many as six waterfalls for short hikes to where you can feel the cool mist of water and the pulsing concussion of air from the falls amidst the lush green growth of dozens of species of trees, flowering shrubs, ferns, and moss. We may even glimpse some of the native birds of prey, such as osprey and bald eagles.
(NOTE: the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire Complex has damaged and temporarily closed access to some waterfalls, roadways and trails due to danger of rocks and trees falling. Tour itineraries will be adjusted on an as-needed basis to account for Forest Service restrictions and the safety of our guests.)
After exploring the falls and six miles of the Historic Columbia River Highway, relax as we transport you back to the city to complete your experience of one of the most beautiful places in Oregon.
